In 1981 I received a B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont. At this time I was also was awarded a $10,000 Watson Fellowship, which enabled me to travel in Peru and Nepal and photograph for almost three years.
My career as a photographer began in earnest after I moved to San Francisco in 1986. My Peru portfolio was awarded a Maine Photographic Workshops grant in 1988. I had my first solo show at the Shapiro Gallery in 1989. The Shapiro Gallery has continued to represent me and show each new body of work that I have produced.
My Peru portfolio was shown at the Yancey Richardson Gallery in Manhattan in 1996. Concurrent with the exhibition, images were reprinted in the New York Times, The New Yorker, and the New York Post.
Most recently my work has been exhibited and published locally in the San Francisco Bay area and in Brattleboro, Vermont.
